Fenn was my ‘heart dog’ and there isn’t a day goes by that I don’t miss this special girl. She was bred under Monica Davidsons affix kindly offering me a vested interest to breed this litter. This combination was all I was looking and hoped for. She gained a Best Puppy in Breed soon after her debut to the show ring but it was soon apparent that as beautiful as she was, showing was not her ‘thing’ and as any good owner would do I listened to her and retired her from the ring to do the things that she did enjoy.

For me Fenn’s type is my benchmark, I wanted a little more bone but have always kept her vision in my mind’s eye. I think that Grettle is now that vision! Unfortunately we never had the opportunity to have a litter from Fenn, after a firework set off into our living room window Fenn started fitting in shock and after this point she had fits around every two weeks and even though our vet assured us this was not genetic we didn’t feel the risk was worth it if she had a fit in whelp and the electrical impulses triggered anything in the pups so we had her spayed and my dreams of breeding a litter from this amazing girl were shattered.

Fenn excelled in Obedience consistently placed at Open level, she excelled in Agility always in the places and once of my proudest agility memories was her debut to agility where she gained a 5th place from 125 dogs at her first show, she excelled at tracking and scent work and again proving her worth on a night track she identified every article laid truly showing her talent, we tried our hand at Carriage Dog Trials and at her first competition where she had never worked alongside a horse before she was awarded 2nd place in the bronze section. Fenn took my passion for dog training to another level and this was the time I decided to go back to learning and took a course with Hull University for Canine Behaviour and Training, she took me through the course and I will always cherish those memories.
